BCGS-Symposium 2019

The Bonn-Cologne Graduate School of Physics and Astronomy (BCGS) looks back on a dozen years of success within the framework of the excellence initiative.  We would like to take the opportunity to celebrate BCGS’ success and bring together former and recent BCGS members. For this reason we invite you to our BCGS Symposium „Joining Perspectives“ that takes place on Friday, October 11, 2019, 14:30 at University of Bonn, Wolfgang-Paul-Hörsaal, Kreuzbergweg 28, 53115 Bonn.

The Symposium will include this year’s Plücker lecture given by
Eiichiro Komatsu, Max-Planck-Institute for Astrophysics in Garching and presentations of BCGS Alumni as well as the chance to meet colleagues and friends during the dinner. The detailed programme can be found here. If you plan to participate in the symposium please register here.

The symposium in addition defines a milestone for BCGS.  During the last years we have financially supported several hundred of students during their Master and PhD studies at Bonn and Cologne. The end of DFG funding within the framework of the German Excellence Initiative reduces our possibilities for financial support of students significantly. The Deuschlandstipendium, however, offers the possibility to compensate this partly.  Private financial contributions combined with federal funds allow for a scholarship of 300 Euros per month.  The number of available scholarships for our students depends on the number of donations collected by the BCGS.
We would appreciate very much if you could consider supporting future BCGS
students by giving a donation within the framework of the Deutschlandstipendium. The following links give you additional information about how to support students of the universities of Bonn and Cologne by a donation to the Deutschlanstipendium:

We will be very happy to welcome you in Bonn and meet you in person in October!
